An Orquesta Típíca (Tango Orchestra) is the biggest of the ensembles in Tango, the so called Big Band. Every group of instruments has it's one role and together you form a impressive sound.
With Orquesta Típíca El Chocolate you play divers styles within the genre Argentinean Tango, from Guardia vieja (old style) to Tango Nuevo (new style). An very important part of the style of this Orquesta Tipica El Chocolate is the dance accompaniment. At the end of a semester the orquesta will play during the ‘milonga' (dance party) for the dancers.
The rehearsals are weekly on Friday night or Saturday morning in. Orquesta Tipica Chocolate will be directed by Kay Sleking and a couple of times a year well known tango musicians will pass by to give a masterclass.
To be part of this orquestra you need to be (semi) advanced on your instrument. The instruments are: bandoneon, accordeon, strings, flute, piano & (e-)guitar.
If your instrument is not mentioned and you want to participate, please contact me. Also if you have doubts about your level.
